A deep berry-red drink with a silver shimmer and a sparkling finish. Fruity enough to win over people who say they don’t like cocktails.
Ingredients
- 1 oz vodka
- 1 oz blackberry liqueur
- 3/4 oz apple juice
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 oz grenadine
- 1/4 oz simple syrup (optional)
- A pinch of silver edible glitter
- Club soda, to top
Method
- Add everything except the club soda to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Strain into a glass (over fresh ice if you like).
- Top with a splash of club soda.
Why it works
This is a sour turned into a fizz. The soda goes in last, after shaking, so the bubbles survive. Lemon keeps the liqueur and grenadine from tasting like candy.
Swaps and notes
- Taste before adding the optional syrup. With grenadine and liqueur, many people find it sweet enough already.
- Chambord or crème de cassis can stand in for blackberry liqueur.
- Zero-proof version: skip the vodka and liqueur, use 1 oz blackberry syrup, and top with extra soda.
- Contains: citrus.
How strong is it?
About 1 standard drink as a full cocktail, depending on your liqueur’s strength. Split four ways, about 0.25 each.
